Math for the Skilled Trades Lesson 1
This class is offered in a small group/tutorial setting to provide math instruction to help people reach competency levels necessary for entry into skilled trades apprenticeship programs, such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, precision machining, etc. Instruction will include basic arithmetic, algebra, and geometry with focused practice and real-world applications. This class will be held every Saturday through the month of October from 12pm to 2pm. There is no cost to members or non-members to attend this class. Pre-registration is required. Patchwork Pillows
We will use upholstery fabric to create your choice of a sofa pillow, floor pillow, or a pet pillow in your choice of patchwork designs. You will learn basic sewing machine and hand stitching skills. Mind your Mending
Do you have a shirt missing a button, a torn seam or hem, or pants too long that need to be hemmed? Well, bring them to the Makerspace on October 24th and fix them! You will learn how to mend and repair your clothing and get it back into your closet to wear again. All supplies provided. No zippers (that’s another class). Only $5. Hand Built Pottery
Hand-building with clay is a very user-friendly route into ceramics. No wheel is required. Just your hands! Working clay with your hands is a slow, tactile, forgiving, and rewarding art practice. It is one of the most stress relieving art forms. Three techniques will be taught: pinching the clay into bowl shapes, rolling clay coils and assembling them into hollow forms, and making flat clay slabs that are cut and assembled into a variety of objects. $25.00. Fundamentals of Drawing : Lesson one
The focus of these drawing classes are the teaching of visual skills such as line and contour drawing, value and shading, and perspective and composition. You will develop and improve your drawing skills when you attend this class. This class consists of two sessions, November 14 and 21. All materials will be provided. Cost $25.00. Create a personalized gift for someone special this Christmas. Paint a tote bag and matching makeup or pencil bar with a design of our choosing. This class will explore the basic skills needed to begin 3d printing, an in-depth study of the printers and all necessary programs. Individual attention given to your personal goals in 3d printing.
